There are several factors that Google uses to analyze a website to determine its page ranking:
Onsite Optimization (Website Pages) – This is the information or content on your website, such as the keywords contained in your website’s header tag, placement of the keywords and the content on your website pages.
Offsite Optimization (all other factors) -This includes all the ranking factors that aren’t on your website, and those factors are what we’ll be talking about in this article.
There are many “offsite “ factors that Google’s algorithm take into consideration when calculating page rank on a website.
Step 1
google rankingGoogle looks at the number websites linking to a website.
How many websites do you have linking to yours?
To find out how many websites are linked to your website enter the following line into the Google search engine.
Link:
Code:
www.yourwebsitename.com
This will return all websites that link back to you
Step 2
google rankingThe Google checks Page Rank of websites linking back to yours.
Google checks the Page ranking of other sites to determine the importance of your site.
To check the page ranking of a site visit
Code:
http://www.prchecker.info/
Enter the name of the website that you would like to check. The higher the page ranks the better. For example you can check the page rank of
Code:
www.ehow.com
You will see ehow has a page ranking of 7.
Step 3
google rankingAnother factor that Google looks at is the anchor text of the links to your site.
Anchor text usually gives your visitors useful information about the content of the page you’re linking to.
So instead of us the phrase “click here” as the words people are going to click on, you’re telling people the page is about the subject “click here”. For example if the page you are linking to is about “dog grooming” you will want your anchor text to say, “dog grooming”
Anchor text tells search engines what the page is about. If you use anchor text wisely, it can increase your Google ranking as well.
Step 4
Google also looks at the number of outbound links on the website that’s linking to you.
Step 5
Google looks at the total number of links on the website that’s linking to yours.
Your Google ranking is affected by whether or not Google considers the website linking to yours to an “authority website”. The higher the page rank the more authority google thinks it has.
Step 6
improve google rankingFinally, the IP address of the websites linking to yours also affects your Google ranking.
If all the links that are linking to your website is coming from the same IP address they will not have the same effect as a website that has IP addresses coming from many different locations.
